Late 16th/Early 17th Century nīm-tana

Given to Queen Christiana of Sweden by the Czar Michael in 1644, resides in the Royal Armory of Stockholm, pictured in The Arts of Persia, R.W. Ferrier, ed., 1989, copyrighted by Hossein Amirsadeghi

The nīm-tana was gifted to the Czar in the 1630's. While we know the date the nīm-tana was gifted to both the Czar and Queen Christiansen, we do not know the date it was created. It was not uncommon for gifts of clothing to be given many years after their creation. Also, considering the fact that at some point it was gifted to the Russian Czar by Shah Şafī, it is likely that the garment may date to a as early as the last quarter of the 16th century. It is certainly no older than the first quarter of the 17th century. While it was given to Queen Christiansen, it is a male garment.
