Seljuk

The Seljuk Turks (Seldjuk, Seldjuq, Seljuq; in modern Turkish Selçuklular; in Persian سلجوقيان Saljūqiyān; in Arabic سلجوق Saljūq, or السلاجقة al-Salājiqa) originated in Central Asia. They controlled this territory from the 11th through 13th century, including Persia. They are the ancestors of modern-day Turks in Turkey.
