The Kingdom of Phyrigia was ruled by King Mita in the 8th cent. B.C. King Mita was probably King Midas known from Greek Legends. Phrygia occupied what is now Western Turkey. The Phrygians actively traded with the surrounding cultures.

I took the following photos at the Oriental Museum in the University of Chicago in July of 2006. I am not anything approaching an expert in this time period but I believe I have correctly related the photos to the appropriate time period.
